New week

Good afternoon to all who read this,

We have had a wonderful weekend! I had Saturday and Sunday off as usual , but I only worked about 2 hours today, so it's a win-win for me!
It's been a cool not warm weekend! High was 72 yesterday, rainy today!
Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Especially to those who have served, are serving and have retired from the service! Thank you for your service!
We had lunch with my niece and her husband yesterday. They live in California and were in the twin cities area for another reason, but reached out to us to meet! Loved it!! There was 11 people and we laughed, ate, laughed some more and then I cried when it was over. Saying goodbye is hard for me!! We don't see them, but every few years! Hoping to maybe travel there sometime in the next few years!
We got our load of wood and Gordon has been slowly cutting it up! It's a lot of work and time! Thank you Gordon for doing this, it's wonderful heat in the winter!
So, my sourdough didn't turn out well, it was okay, but I'm reading a new book and started my sourdough starter all over. This process takes 5 days, so I'm on day 3. Almost ready to do the next step!
So this last item, I found at the local library. What a treasure to look at this and have such fond memories of the show. The recipes are very practical! Blessings!

Update

So the week of no extra grocery buying actually went well! I would do it again in a heart beat and I challenge anyone else to try it! Just buy enough of fresh fruit and salad fixings for the week, over buy if necessary!
So, I'm back baking sourdough bread after watching and reading a couple of Instagram messages from venisonfordinner, she's so funny and beautiful loaves of bread come out of her oven.
We had hail on Wednesday early evening and a town 40 miles from us was hit with a tornado, please pray for them!
Our daughter had a garage sale yesterday and today in order to help with her new start up business! Its going to be a arts and crafts store where you go and do the craft or painting there! It will be so much fun!!! So I took pictures of her apple tree and all the pretty blossoms! So pretty in pink!! I made fudge and jam to help Erika out!
I want to encourage all of you of the breathe and depth of God's love for each of us! We need only to walk in faith and count it as ours!! Do it!!! Blessings!

winter wood

Our winter wood showed up about an hour ago, now the fun begins. The cutting, splitting and stacking all summer so we have warmth this coming winter! Its a lot of work and Gordon does most of it by himself, but we both appreciate it. Our outside woodstove heats 3 buildings and 2 water heaters. We really depend on the wood as propane costs are so high to heat the house!
On a another note, my no spend is going okay. Gordon bought a couple of things, so I'm not counting that as part of my budget. It's really easy and maybe a little too easy since I work at a grocery store to come home everyday with something that is on sale. But, I'm trying!

Ready

So, with out further waiting, I'm doing the no spend at the grocery store this coming week, starting tomorrow. I shopped today and got I hope the food for the week. Fixings for sandwiches, yogurt, had enough bananas, salad fixings, bread, and there's food in the freezers. I dug out a big bag of blueberries, strawberries in a plastic container, blackberries in a bag, peaches in a bag. Making jam as I type. Had to buy 24 jam jars, as I had none as I had used all of the ones I had up. So, that's what I am doing tonight and for the next week, wish me luck!

Idea

I was reading Mavis Butterfield's blog last week, which I read everyday, but something struck me last week and I think I'm going to try it! One week a month of no spending money on groceries, I think it's worth a try for a couple of months. As you all know, I work in a grocery store where I see things discounted daily, so this could be a challenge. I'm up for it!  Who else wants to try this?? Only eat what is in the freezer or refrigerator, buy enough fresh fruit and vegetables! Check out her blog at www.onehundreddollarsamonth.com. She has great ideas for gardening and I admire her blog, it's great!
I have some new recipes to try out, mostly grain based. A Reuben salad made with rye berries, and a grain barley soup! They sound yummy! I also started a sourdough starter. I'm going to start making bread again! Wish me luck!!! Blessings!!

I'm back!

Hello, I hope everyone is well and will find this blog again! I'm going to try and blog again!  So much has happened in the last two ye...
