Coming to the weekend

We are having a small gathering at our house this weekend with friends! I'm so excited, pretty special! Dana and her husband are in town, they are staying at our good friends Lori and Bill's house. I'm feeding everyone and I'm so happy!!! Gordon got a smoker and has been smoking fish, but yesterday he smoked chicken thighs and I'm telling you , they were the best!!! Smoky, some heat and some sweet! I told him forget grilling, I want my chicken smoked from now on! YUM! He used garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, chili powder and cayenne pepper. I'm not sure on the measurements as I wasn't home, but he used up almost a whole small jar of chili powder. I also spied a pie recipe on the web on Tuesday, I told Gordon this is dessert for Saturday night. Creamy lemon pie, found it on "A Spicy Perspective". Looks so yummy!! No, I didn't make pie over the weekend, I made peach cobbler which I ate too much of, oh well!!! Enjoy the weekend with the ones you love. Blessings!

I'm dreaming of pie!

I bought a new pie cookbook after reading the review on another site. It's called" The Four and Twenty Blackbird pie book." It's named after the Pie Shop by the same name. Owned by 2 sisters. It's a great story and the recipes sound delicious! One is Strawberry Balsamic Pie. That one is on my list, so much for watching what I eat for a few weeks, LOL!!! Also, for this weekend, I have in my sights Paprika Peach Pie, I know, it sounds strange because of the adding of paprika, but they state its really good. I have 10 bags (pint size) of frozen peaches in the freezer that needs a home in pie crust. Wish me luck, I will try to post pictures as I go along. Blessings!!!

Today was my day off. I had made some plans, but the "Hub" had other plans. So, we went to Duluth and took parts back, went to TJ Maxx(Me), Sam's club (spent too much money), and ate at "Five Guys" which is a burger and fries joint. Really good burger!!! I had planned for a girls day to myself. I needed a haircut, pedicure and nap, but those things were put on hold till next week. Oh well, we had fun together!
My sister-in-law cracks me up. I had forgotten what a word person she is and so descriptive! She recently had a work related work trip to Orlando. Got one evening at Epcot, had a beer in Mexico and Germany. The way she described it was so funny, better than I!!!! When she sends me an email, Gordon always wants to hear the report from her, cracks us both up.
The temps have been in the 50's and 60's, this is way too early for these temps. Probably another snow storm coming before spring is over. Have a great weekend! Blessings beyond and back!

update on new toy

I really like my Fitbit. It has made me very aware of how much sleep I'm getting, but how restless I am during the night. I'm not sure there's a cure for that without a pill which I won't take. I'm going to try a few things, maybe change how I go to bed or what I take in before I go to bed like maybe some yogurt or some sort of protein, so I get a better and more rested sleep. According to the Fitbit read out of my sleep pattern, I'm restless( which means I'm moving in bed) about an average of 15 times a night, which means I'm uncomfortable or something on that order, I'm awake 3 times, 1 get up once to go to the bathroom, but I don't remember being awake the other times, but it clearly shows it. I think it's so cool. It shows I'm getting about 6 hours and 25 minutes a night, not too bad!
 I've also been counting my calories and water intake. They have me taking in way too many calories 2500, in order to lose 2 1/2 pounds a month, which I still think its too many calories. I have noticed I don't eat many vegetables like I used too so that has to change. I love oven roasted veggies, so I just need to get my butt in gear and do it.
 I have been going to the PT center and using their equipment, such as the arm bike, bike and treadmill, plus I have a trainer once a week who is a PT person. I'm up to 4 days a week which is good for me. I'm very slowly getting my core strengthened and walking better. My back feels tired at the end of my work day, but I MAKE myself go there and enjoy the people there.
I did treat myself to a facial where my daughter works on Friday, very relaxing, but hard on my back to lay on it! I haven't laid on my back in a bed for a long time, it's just not easy anymore for this back! So, that's the report from here.
